Waste sorting with manual pollution control

Each piece of waste is sorted in order to direct it to the right processing step. Some of the waste must be decontaminated by removing certain items such as batteries or ink and toner cartridges. Especially for batteries that are a real danger for shredding processes, the decontamination is done manually by ESAT staff or the RSB EA partner.

Second life of electronic equipment

Other waste contains items such as hard drives or electronic components that can be reused. These are manually dismantled by staff with disabilities. The collected hard drives or electronic components are then tested, their data is wiped out before being put back on the market for their second life. This action maximises our customers’ revenue and avoids destroying elements that are still operational.
